Our Curriculum
At Giggle and Learn, your child is at the centre of everything we do. We want to inspire a love of learning to give your child a great foundation for the years ahead. The Giggle and Learn curriculum and early years’ program is based on the knowledge that all children are individual learners who develop at their own pace. We will provide an engaging, play based program that is reflective of children’s interests and supports the principals of the Early Years Learning Framework.
Early Years Learning Framework
Our programming supports the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). The Framework recognises that early childhood is a vital period in children’s learning and development. EYLF embodies the idea of ‘belonging, being and becoming’:
-
‘Belonging’ is all about children’s relationships with the people and communities around them. Children belong first to a family, a cultural group, a neighbourhood and wider community. This sense of belonging forms the basis of a child’s sense of identity. At Giggle and Learn, this requires our staff to recognise and integrate the uniqueness of each culture and community that our children come from into the centre’s daily practices.
-
'Being’ simply means allowing children to be children. It is about the present and children learning about themselves, engaging in all the experiences life must offer and meeting everyday challenges. At Giggle and Learn, this means we help your children to explore the world around them, take safe risks and make mistakes to learn valuable lessons.
-
‘Becoming’ focuses on children’s growth and development in these early years. It is these formative years in which children’s identities, knowledge, understandings, capacities, skills and relationships change and evolve depending on surrounding events and environments. At Giggle and Learn, this means providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that helps children learn about themselves and the world around them.
The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) describes the principles, practices, and outcomes essential to support and enhance young children’s learning from birth to five years of age, as well as their transition to school. The framework has a strong emphasis on play-based learning, and recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development. Through implementing the EYLF in our programming, our educators are helping your child to develop connections with their world, a strong sense of wellbeing, confidence and involvement in their learning effective communication skills.
The Giggle and Learn curriculum and early years’ programs are carefully researched and mapped as per the Early Years Learning Framework and thoughtfully taught. We approach every day with a sense of imagination, innovation and fun to help young children learn comfortably and confidently.
